I was blessed the other day to receive a phone call from a prospective student who was very interested in learning more about the courses offered through the seminary. I always know when I am speaking to someone connected to Source because the hair on my arms stands straight up. "I am a spiritual hypnotherapist" the caller said. "I try to help people connect to the Source within themselves to find the answers to their problems." I felt honored to speak with this individual.On Creativity
To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under the sun.
A time to be born and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal ...
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance ...
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to lose and a time to seek;
a time to rend and a time to sew;
a time to keep silent and a time to speak;
a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.
"They all love me." (as if you are the only one who can be loved)
"I am granted a special power from God." (as if you are the only one that can connect with God)
"I alone can interpret God's word." (As if you are the only one who can think)
"They (the congregation) don't know anything and it is my job to teach them."
"I have the final word as I am the pastor."
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, These words reminded me of all the peace I can find within my own heart.
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake. Now I was feeling balanced again. "I turn this day over to you dear God. You will guide my every step."
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me. Now I knew there was nothing to "want."
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows. My enemies were simply my own thoughts about the things I thought I wanted.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever. Now I was overwhelmed with gratitude and peace.
I ended this contemplation with prayer, as I did each and every day.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for speaking to me today and guiding me back to joy and gratitude.
I turn this day over to you, knowing that you will guide my every step.
Live in joy and love, even among those who hate.
Live in joy and health, even among the afflicted.
Live in joy and peace, even among the troubled.
Live in you, without possessions, like the shining ones.
The winner sows hatred because the loser suffers.
Let go of winning and losing, and find joy.
May you be blessed!
Welcome!The Spiritual Contemplations that were presented on the Daily Contemplations page at www.ministerialseminary.com will now be presented on this new blog. By way of video and text, I will share with you my experiences regarding my daily contemplation practices. I encourage you to respond with your own thoughts, experiences and learnings regarding these contemplations as well as your own practices.Together, we grow in God as we share from our hearts. Today's contemplation deals with relationship issues and attack/defend behaviors that manifest in the closest of relationships. This is because close relationships have the ability to bring out our projections and shed light on the unhealed segments of our spiritual and personal growth.Today's contemplation has helped me look inward as to why and when I incorporate these useless ways of interacting with those I love. Today I make a conscious effort to see only the light of God in those who I meet along the way and then am blessed to experience a positive change in my earthly experience.
